Please, if you are still using IE 6, ditch that piece of shit. Just let Windows upgrade you to IE 8 and move on. IE 6 is nothing but a complete and absolute pain in the ass of any and all of us that make a living writing websites and web-based applications.

Ugly Betty Cancelled →
This is almost a conspiracy against any TV show with original writing and decent acting. How is it possible that Ugly Betty is getting the can while that piece of shit Shark Tank got greenlit? Who the hell is making these decisions?

Obama to call for 'don't ask, don't tell' repeal,... →
Thanks God! I was in active duty in the US Army when “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” kicked in. Before the policy started, everyone basically played stupid and did their best to ignore whatever it is that people did. At least where I was stationed, I didn’t see a single discharge due to homosexuality. As soon as the policy kicked-in, the shit hit the fan. The way it was...

Covers
karlaakins: whatitsliketodie: I put together a playlist on my itouch of all past hits being covered by somebody else.  There are about 30 tunes on it and I think I enjoy that about as much as any playlist I have.  If  you’ve not heard Ray Charles sing “Over The Rainbow” or Linda Ronstadt sing “Desperado” …. But now that I sit here and think about it, you’ve probably never heard of those songs...

The Great Mac Bailout
I have been a Mac user since sometime in 2002. I had switched jobs, the new shop was 100% mac on the desktop, with one glaring exception: my predecessor. The server side was a mix of mac, Windows and Linux, and my programming (initially) was classic ASP. In no time I had already switched to a 12” iBook 600, a fantastic piece of gear that I will never forget. Next were a 15” Titanium Powerbook,...

Talk to me, People!
karlaakins: iPhone or Blackberry? Crackberry! I ditched my iPhone 3G for a Blackberry 8900 and I couldn’t be any happier. And I am switching Ivette’s iPhone to another 8900 next week. For the kind of money that AT&T costs us we might as well have phones that work with the network.

Slashdot Apple Story | Rumor — AT&T Losing iPhone... →
I really hope this is true because it will mean a mass exodus of AT&T customers that either have iPhones already or want one. I am an AT&T customer, and I ditched one of my iPhones (for a Blackberry 8900, which I adore) because of the bad network performance, and I am about to ditch Ivette’s iPhone too for the same reason. And yes, Blackberry for her too.

No different than any other big company that sells software. BTW, those are the same wives that have no trouble spending the money earned by their husbands in these horrible working conditions. And no, game companies are not going to abandon the crunch as long as it is profitable. It is just a numbers game.

Slashdot Games Story | How Do You Measure a Game's... →
We use the bang for the buck measurement system, and we always try to keep the spending compared to other things that are considered entertainment, like  going to the movie theater. The standard price point for XBox 360 games is $60, and going to the movies here means spending at least $10. If a movie is two hours long, you are spending about $5 per hour. This means that just for the $60 to be...
