Tiger's split with GM an ad warning for athletes →
This is how the world ends (for General Motors): Not with a bang, but with a whimper. Things are now bad enough that GM has to cut marketing costs, which is why the Tiger Woods sponsorship is over at the end of the year. At least they aren’t trying to blame Tiger for it. What is next for GM? Will they start shutting down the production lines for their shittier cars in order to keep the...

I understand the logic of hyping up the Black Friday sales, but isn’t there a way to keep the competitive spirit and the thrill of getting that one good deal but without risking customers and/or employees getting hurt? Here’s how I would do it: 1. Break the Black Friday flyer into zones. Any customer that walks into the store before a given time, say 7 AM, gets to pick a fixed amount...

Scoop: Cruise ready to appear as Nazi in holiday... →
Very nice assholes. You couldn’t have written the headline as “Cruise ready to appear as German Army general that tried to assassinate Hitler.” No sir, that would not sound as juicy as making Tom Cruise look like a nazi. Cruise is playing Claus Von Stauffenberg, the leader of the main plot to kill Hitler on July 20, 1944. A German Army officer, not a “Nazi officer.” ...

Scan scam
This is a screen capture taken in Safari in OS X 10.5. The page is designed to fool a windows user into thinking that his machine is infected, and to download a scanner tool that is actually a trojan. They did a really good job with it, the only reason I knew it was bullshit is because I had read about it a few days ago.

Obama's vetting could chase away candidates →
And this is a problem because? Are we going to criticize this new administration simply because they are pushing people through a hard interview process? And what if the questionnaire is extremely invasive? Have you ever had to go through a god damn background investigation for cleared work? That thing is just horrible! I think this is just some dumbass making noise because he was promised a job...

Mozilla dependent on Google →
Fredo’s Kiss of Death strikes again. First Apple pumped a lot of money into KHTML, which became WebKit, instead of spending that money on Mozilla. Google then decides that they want their own browser. Again, instead of pumping money into Mozilla, they use WebKit with some minor parts of Mozilla’s Gecko. While doing this, they have a deal in place with Mozilla, to make Google the...

Goldman CEO, execs give up 2008 bonus →
Cry me a fucking river! They are patting each other’s backs because they told their board that they did not deserve a bonus? These people are getting paid $600,000 per year! If they were so contrite, why not refund the company the salaries that they drew FOR NOT DOING THEIR JOBS? I am all about fair pay for fair work. If you are a god damn genius and a captain of the industry, you deserve...

‘CSI: Miami’ is watchable, yet horrible →
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Well, not really. But yeah. Part of the fun of watching the 3 CSI shows is to spot the little things that make each of the shows unique. My favorite is Vegas, Ivette’s favorite is Miami (she has a secret crush on Horatio Caine that I am not supposed to know about). We both agree that NY is the worst of the tree.

Fallout 3
If you have ever played Oblivion, then you’ll feel right at home. The controls, mission tracking, inventory management, etc. are almost identical. Combat is simpler and is augmented with a system called V.A.T.S. that allows you to target multiple enemies in a split second. You can even aim at specific parts of the body. What was fame/infame in Oblivion is karma in Fallout. There are no...

The Prediction
This is how it’s going to work out, you heard it here first: 1. The new president has about 100 days to shock and awe everyone. And I mean, everyone. 2. After the first 100, he’ll spend his time either defending his first 100, or getting ready for the midterms. 3. By the time the dust clears after the midterms, it’s time to get ready for reelection. If his party is not in...

Vote!
It took me a little over 30 minutes to vote, and my line was huge! Some genius decided maybe it was time to split the line into two, so after half an hour waiting I eneded up first in the M-Z line. Duh. We used scanner ballots, they are printed on what felt like like a very heavy weight paper, and we used ink instead of pencil. Vote!

Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging FAQs →
Pure genius. Lower the cost to the company that makes the toy, lower the shipping cost from Amazon, then tell us they are doing us a favor. Which they are, the problem is that they are wrapping this up like it is being done out of the goodness of their hearts. The three main reasons this is being done: 1. It allows Amazon and the partners to have good publicity as being pro-environment. 2. We...
